This week, the World Spirits Alliance had the pleasure of joining a remarkable Cachaça Tasting Evening at the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO Headquarters in Geneva, hosted by the Brazilian Mission to the WTO and the IBRAC – Instituto Brasileiro da Cachaça. Ambassadors to the WTO from Brazil, France, and Australia, along with senior WIPO officials, gathered to celebrate the culture, history, and Brazil’s iconic spirit, Cachaça.
We enjoyed the full spectrum of cachaça varieties. From the clear, fresh silver (prata) to aged expressions like Carvalho (with caramel and toffee notes) and Amburana, matured in native Brazilian wood barrels. To showcase its versatility, a selection of cocktails was served, including a classic Caipirinha, a Cachaça Mule, and a Cachaça Negroni, highlighting how Cachaça pairs beautifully with both traditional and contemporary mixology.
We extend our sincere thanks to H.E. Ambassador Guilherme Patriota, Permanent Representative of Brazil to the WTO, and the staff of the Brazilian Mission to the WTO for their hospitality. Together, the World Spirits Alliance and IBRAC – Instituto Brasileiro da Cachaça are proud to celebrate tradition while promoting responsible consumption. We stand united in the global fight against harmful alcohol use.
