The World Spirits Alliance is the global voice of the spirits sector, championing responsible policies, open and fair trade, and sustainable practices across the international marketplace. We represent a diverse and dynamic industry that spans continents – rooted in centuries of tradition and united by a shared commitment to excellence, integrity, and responsibility.
Our mission is to foster an open, transparent, and rules-based trading environment that enables the spirits industry to thrive while promoting high standards of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and consumer protection.
The objective of the WSA and its members is to advocate for:
- Elimination of tariff, non-tariff barriers;
- Fair, transparent and evidence-based regulation of distilled spirits;
- Adequate excise tax structures and non-discriminatory taxes;
- Proportionate evidence-based public health measures for distilled spirits;
- Ambitious strategies to combat illicit alcohol.
WSA and its members are committed to promoting responsible drinking habits, sustainable production, and responsible advertising and marketing practices to tackle underage drinking and contribute to the reduction of harmful use of alcohol.


Highlights of Our Engagements
WSA CEO spoke on a panel on occasion of the launch of the WTO Secretariat report “Illicit Trade in Food and Food Fraud” – reinforces the role WTO can play in tackling illicit trade in alcohol.
Continued close collaboration with policy experts from the International Alliance for Responsible Drinking (IARD) on tackling harmful drinking of alcohol, and other alcohol & health policy issues.
Inaugural WSA Geneva annual meeting in July 2024, with range of invited speakers from the WTO, Geneva Trade Platform, and International Alliance for Responsible Drinking (IARD).
