The Road to 2030: Industry-led action to reduce harmful drinking in Asia-Pacific

Responsibility

APISWA published its 2025 report on how the alcohol industry is contributing to the WHO’s target of reducing harmful drinking by 20% by 2030. The report highlights progress across APAC, including national education campaigns, drink-driving prevention programmes, underage drinking safeguards, and efforts to tackle unrecorded alcohol. Initiatives like “Wrong Side of the Road” and “Smashed” reached millions, while industry-backed self-regulation and digital labelling continue to raise standards. APISWA underlines the need for a whole-of-society approach tailored to local contexts, backed by better data, evidence-based interventions, and strong public-private partnerships to reduce alcohol-related harm.
