On 20th November, WSA CEO, Helen Medina, participated in the WTO’s “WTO 101” panel for students, emphasizing the importance of international trade and the organization for industries like spirits. By promoting open trade, the WTO helps drive economic growth, whilst enabling cultural exchange and mutual understanding across borders.

Helen highlighted how the sector thrives on local heritage yet depends on global markets, and how WTO mechanisms — such as tariff reduction, IP protection, and transparency — enable growth while safeguarding fairness. She also stressed the need to strengthen these tools amid current trade challenges during the discussion.
